American contemporary Christian musician Michael W. Smith is one of a select number of Christian artists who have managed to achieve crossover success with mainstream audiences. His brand of spiritual adult contemporary pop, along with several instrumental worship and Christmas albums, have made him a favorite among fans seeking to embrace the holiday spirit and celebrate their faith through music. On his 20th studio album, 2011’s Glory, Smith enlisted a 65-piece orchestra to produce his most soaring collection of instrumental spiritual songs yet, landing him at No. 8 on the Christian Albums chart. Smith made his solo debut in 1983 with the Grammy-nominated The Michael W. Smith Project, releasing several more successful albums in the ‘80s before achieving mainstream success with hit single “Place in This World" from 1990's Go West Young Man. He is the recipient of three Grammy awards, including two Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album awards for I’ll Lead You Home (1995) and Worship Again (2002).
